Hi.
My name is Kasia Kovacs, and I’m a journalist.
I currently live in London, where I’m working as acting editor-in-chief for Northern Europe and Poland for the mobile news app upday.
Before London I lived in Budapest, where I work as a freelance journalist and writer. I ran the weekly Travelogue Newsletter, a roundup of the best travel writing on the web. I also lived in the U.S., working as an investigative reporter for the Island Packet in South Carolina. I covered higher education for Inside Higher Ed and the Columbia Missourian, and national stories for local outlets, which you can find here.
I have a master’s degree in investigative reporting from the University of Missouri, and before that I studied English literature and critical theory at William Jewell College. I also studied English as a visiting student at the University of Cambridge. I still spend my free time reading and re-reading my favorite authors. I also love hiking, and I jump around Europe when I can.
My name is pronounced Ka-sha Ko-vahch. My name is half Polish, half Hungarian, just like me.
